Adopt a Path
'Adopt a Path' is a Penistone Community Partnership project (find their website through our 'Websites' page). The aim of the scheme is to keep open, maintain and improve the paths of Penistone East and West. Friends of the scheme will choose a path to adopt which they will walk at least once a year and report on its condition. Walking paths will, in itself, keep paths clear and open and we can report any repairs/ improvements that need doing to the appropriate agencies.
The scheme will also run special projects, such as litter picking or maintenance on paths which Friends can be involved in if they wish.
If you are interested in adopting a path, there is a form attached below which you can download, fill in and send to us at pprint@hotmail.co.uk

The launch of the scheme took place on Sunday 15th October with a guided walk at Langsett and a children's treasure hunt. There were hot drinks and food available, and the opportunity for people to adopt their favourite path.
This was a great success, we had a lot of people visit us to look at the maps and hear about the scheme. We are hoping that even more people will be encouraged to walk the local paths, to report on their condition and help keep them open for everybodys benefit.
The children really enjoyed themselves, looking at leaves, doing rubbings of bark or feathers and finding pine cones. Walking paths with their families is an excellent way for children to learn about the countryside around them, while having fun.
All the people who volunteered at the Launch event and many more since have now been assigned paths. Well over half of the paths in the Penistone area have now been adopted so if you've got a favourite you would like, please get in touch soon.
Now's the time to start filling in those forms and getting them back to us as well!
